The gates are closed. Our childhood is gone. The Tascosa Drive-In, the last drive-in theater standing in Amarillo is closed. They had their last showing over the weekend. That part of our life is over. Or is it?
It really does seem like every time we turn around there is another restaurant closed. It happens in Amarillo. It happens in Canyon. Heck, it happens all over. You would think as often as it happens it would get easier.
When you live in Texas you expect to have plenty of places to get a good steak. There are several places all over Amarillo for a juicy cooked to perfection meal. The problem is when you have a lot of good places the mediocre will not last long.
You plan and you plan for your big day. I mean if you have ever been married you know how much you have to have prepared. You know how many deposits you have to put down.
We get new restaurants and we lose them. That is how they go. Sometimes they are expected. Really they are. Some just kind of close unexpectedly. Amarillo can be a tough place to open. I mean you need to get the word out about your new place. If you don't that is the end of you.
