Maine Moose 18U team captures USPHL championship

Maine Moose take a team picture after defeating the Palmyra Black Knights 4-3 Sunday in York, Pennsylvania.  USPHL photo Over the weekend, the Maine Moose 18U team that plays out of Camden National Bank Ice Vault in Hallowell captured the United States Premier Hockey League 18U American Division title. The Moose defeated the Palmyra Black Knights 4-3 Sunday in York, Pennsylvania in the American final. Two Lewiston-Auburn area connections were on the team, in Jacob Lewis of Auburn and Nate Marcotte of Sabattus. Lewis had an assist on Cameron Rizzo’s (West Gardiner) game-winning goal in the third period. “We had a young team and coach (Matt) Lavallee does a good job with that group,” Maine Moose owner and Twin City Thunder co-owner Ben Gray said. “It’s a tough league and I was really impressed with how they went down and played really good hockey and came away with the championship.”

NAHL announces relocation of Amarillo Bulls to Mason City, Iowa

March 5, 2021 The North American Hockey League (NAHL) has announced that the NAHL Board of Governors has approved the relocation of the Amarillo Bulls to Mason City, Iowa for the 2021-22 season.  The team will be named the North Iowa Bulls and play out of the new Mason City Arena. The Amarillo Bulls released the following statement: We would like to thank, first of all, the fans in Mason City. Without their support, enthusiasm and record-breaking attendance, this would not be possible. The North Iowa Bulls organization is also grateful to City officials and the Mason City Youth Hockey Association for making it possible for our team to call “home” this special community and its world-class arena. We can t wait to compete in the NAHL Central Division next season.

The business partners were drawn to Mason City and the Bulls for a couple of things Fernandez told KIOW in 2019. They could own both the North Iowa Bulls (NA3HL) and the Amarillo Bulls of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), plus the new arena in Downtown Mason City.
