that the age ends up being an irrelevant issue. the democratic party has always been the big tent party, it s always been more inclusive, that s what has made it more peeling to so many people. i suggest, and maybe you ll disagree, amanda but as long as the reflection of the policies advance and being advocated, the age really ends up being an irrelevant factor, right? i think it s part of our vision for a diverse government. i mean diverse in terms of race, and class, and gender identity, but also generation. you named those stats up top, the average age in that house is 58, the average age in the senate is 63, there are very few young people in these rooms. that s a perspective that is just not part of the conversation. as christina pointed out, that doesn t mean that older folks can t advocate for progressive policies that s between people, but we have seen across the country young leaders, meghan hunt in nebraska, and in florida, across california, who have stood up and spoken wi

sanders, in 2020. but what s the poll did show us is that young voters do care about progressive policy change. they are voting for democrats, and they are overwhelmingly repulsed by republicans, but they are determined for the democratic party to be remade. just what we saw joe manchin did, joe manchin hits his stock portfolio and his investments, his personal investments, over the survival of our entire planet and the entire generation of america s young people. so young people see that, at best, this is a conflict of interest, or outright corruption by a candidate that hasn t been serving in the interest, especially of america s young people, whether it comes to guns, it comes to climate change, or it comes to raising the minimum wage. so, amanda, though, i m going to push back and say this, if you had somebody of whatever age, but they do have a reflection of the values and the policies that younger voters want, you would concede
whether you have reproductive rights depends on where you live in the land of the free. then there s a nonstop rise in gun violence and mass shootings across america, and this country s obsession with guns overall. little to no action to stop the massacres, so of course, they just keep happening. with all of that, it s completely understandable why so many voters under the age of 30, are frustrated. a 22-year-old alexandra chad wood writes in the new york times, quote, how are you going to accurately lead your country if your mind is stuck 50, 60, or 70 years ago? it s not the same, and people are the same, and your old ideas aren t going to work as well anymore. is she on to something? joining me now is the cofounder of run for something, and run for something civics, amanda lippman. and the executive director of next-gen, kristina s in sun ramirez. amanda, thanks for being here as well as christina, i will start with you amanda, out of all the members of congress, 60% are beeb baby b
