Motivated campaigns targeting India will never succeed, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Wednesday, in comments that came on a day his ministry hit out singer Rihanna and climate activist Greta Thunberg for their support to farmers agitating against the new agricultural laws.
A tweet by Rihanna extending support to protesting farmers triggered a wave of support for them by a number of global celebrities, activists and politicians. Motivated campaigns targeting India will never succeed. We have the self confidence today to hold our own. This India will push back, Jaishankar said on Twitter with hastags #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPro

BJP parliamentarian Meenakshi Lekhi today joined the growing list of political leaders and celebrities who have been up in arms over foreign nationals support for the farmers protesting on the outskirts of Delhi following tweets by pop icon Rihanna. Ms Lekhi s target was teen climate activist and Nobel Peace prize nominee Greta Thunberg, who had tweeted a toolkit to help people show support for the protest.

US calls for dialogue to resolve farmer protests; India compares Red Fort violence to Capitol Hill incident

New Delhi: In its first comments on the farmers agitation, the Biden administration on Thursday said it encourages differences to be resolved through dialogue and described peaceful protests a hallmark of a thriving democracy , prompting India to compare reactions to violence at the Red Fort with those seen after storming of the Capitol Hill.
The US also said it backed steps that can improve the efficiency of India s markets and attract greater investment, a remark seen by New Delhi as an acknowledgement of steps being taken by New Delhi towards agricultural reforms.
