It is just the latest election debacle to play out in Oakland, a city that in the past year has been plagued by an incorrectly called school board race, confusion around the ranked-choice voting rules in the mayoral election and inaccurate filing deadlines for candidates.
For their outstanding dedication and work, three Tri-Valley school employees have been honored by the Alameda County Office of Education, receiving 2023 Classified Employee of the Year awards.
The union had called off a strike without a vote last week, with only nine days left in the school year as a method of pressuring teachers to accept the sellout contract.
The union announced a tentative agreement with Oakland Unified School District at 3:00 in the morning, unilaterally ending the strike. The tentative agreement gives workers essentially nothing above the district’s original proposal and paves the way for massive budget cuts.
