Back and forth with the San Francisco Unified School District since march. Kron fours rob nesbitt spoke with teachers today about their frustrations. He joins us now live from San Francisco with more details. Rob. Noel in grand. Its not just teachers go on strike. Its also school counselors, school nurses. And para educators or those who work oneonone with special needs students who could walk off the job. The last time a teacher strike happened in San Francisco. It was 1979. Around 6,000. Educators will make their way through the voting line wednesday at balboa high school. Voting on a possible strike against the San Francisco Unified School District impacting around 50,000 students and more than 110 schools. Megan dukes teaches kindergarten at Alvarado Elementary School and says the current pay for teachers in the city does not cut it. Cornerstone Community Church in marin city. He met another pastor at the school to learn more about what happened. Raised a lot of concerns. To think that, you know, people are still. Putting out negative racial remarks about people and about a particular race of people. Its its disturbing among those marching which students sarah turner as seniors for peace. Were told by one of the students about what had happened. And so were very concerned. That people were using slurs that were hurtful for people. So we wanted to help and that i love the support. We need more support. You know and all the school needs to know all of this. And we reached out to the tema pius Union High School district about this incident. So, what we do is we really emphasize that when youre developing, your Development Skills a cooking class can teach math skills. A volleyball game can teach english language skills. So, the emphasis really is on how do we how do we create environments where students have opportunities to develop their minds and their thinking skills, their problem solving skills. We can do that in a lot of enrichment activities. So, thats where were really looking at how there is co herence. Thank you. Im wondering if the childrens amendment is strongly supported by the voters in november, how much additional funds might come in and if it goes up to 4 cents per 100 of assessed value, you know what that dcyf matching funds how much it would increase . Well, number one, if it doesnt increase up to 4 cents at that point i think the estimate is somewhere to the tunes of 14
