Belleville, other southwest Illinois libraries to extend hours starting in June Belleville News-Democrat 1 hr ago Jennifer Green, Belleville News-Democrat May 31 Public libraries across the region have announced new hours as stores and institutions across Illinois begin to ease COVID-19 restrictions. The Belleville Public Library recently announced new hours beginning June 1. The library s main branch at 121 E. Washington St. will then be open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday for regular services. Curbside pick-up services will continue to be available for patrons with hours from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday. These services include items requested online from the library catalog as well as print, copy and faxing services.

State Librarian Awards Back to Books Grants

WBGZ Radio 12/28/2020 | By RFD Radio Network   Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White has awarded $752,835 in “Back to Books” grants to 187 Illinois libraries for fiction and nonfiction books. Spokesperson for the SOS Henry Haupt says awards ranged from $465 to $4,900 per library and were made possible by federal Library Services and Technology Act funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Click here for Haupt s comments Libraries submitted applications specifying the types of books that were needed then the grants were awarded to help. Local awardees include Brighton Memorial Library District, $4,900, the East Alton Public Library District, $4,900, and the Wood River Public Library, $1,500.
