According to Mexican media, Altán Redes, which describes itself as “the Mexican company responsible for designing, developing, operating and marketing the Red Compartida, the Network for Everyone” has signed an agreement with the national government so that Telcel, AT&T and Movistar can connect to its network.

Mexico had a total of 27 active MVNOs accounting for 2.02 million lines at the end of 2020, having grown by 14.1 percent or over 200,000 subscriptions during the course of the year, said the watchdog, adding that it expects the figure to rise to 2.5 million by the end of 2021. Last year saw the launch of several new operators on the Red Compartida wholesale 4.5G shared network of the Altan Redes consortium.
