Telecompaper Gilat awarded Hispasat backhaul contract in rural Mexico Tuesday 22 December 2020 | 14:46 CET | News Gilat Satellite Networks said it has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by Spanish satellite operator Hispasat to extend the Mexican 4.5G shared network (Red Compartida) of the Altan Redes consortium. Under the deal, Gilat will expand the existing SkyEdge II-c platform that Hispasat operates in Mexico and procure Capricorn VSATs for cellular backhaul (CBH) over satellite. Gilat added that Hispasat will use its technology to extend the service of Red Compartida to over 3 million people in underserved localities. Telecompaper Hispasat and Altan ink enhanced Red Compartida deal Thursday 17 December 2020 | 08:55 CET | News Spanish satellite operator Hispasat has signed a new agreement to significantly boost satellite transmission services to the Altan Redes consortium tasked with deploying Mexico s 4.5G shared network (Red Compartida). The new deal will result in Hispasat s Amazonas 5 satellite providing Ka band satellite links to 665 new base stations from Red Compartida on top of the 65 stations in the original proposal. The stations will provide a total of around 4 Gbps of satellite connectivity to more than 3 million people, all of whom will benefit from the 4.5G LTE coverage that Altan s network provides.
