ISLAMABAD: The ECP Monday issued notices to PTI’s MNAs Faheem Khan and Jamil Ahmed, who were seen in the video of Ali Haider Gilani, a day ahead of the Senate elections.
In this connection, a three-member bench of the Commission, headed by Punjab member Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi, heard the disqualification case against Yousaf Raza Gilani in the Election Commission Secretariat, filed by PTI lawmakers.
Senator Yousaf Raza Gilani submitted the reply to the Election Commission while the Election Commission sent copies of the same to PTI petitioners. On his part, Gilani has sought dismissal of the disqualification petitions and in reply he said the allegations levelled by the PTI were frivolous. In the reply, Gilani termed PTI MNAs Farrukh Habib and Malika Bukhari habitual petitioners and said the petitioners also make statements against the Commission for publicity in the media.
ECP issues notices to PTI MNAs in vote video scandal
Ali Haider Gilani says the footage is ‘tampered’
ISLAMABAD:
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notices to the two MNAs of the ruling PTI who could allegedly be seen in the vote cancelling video of Ali Haider Gilani, son of Leader of Opposition in Senate Yousuf Raza Gilani.
Last month, a day before the Senate elections, a video of Ali Haider emerged on the official Twitter handle of the PTI in which he was telling the ruling party’s lawmakers about techniques of wasting their votes.
The PTI, while terming the leaked video clip “shameful”, asked the ECP to take notice of it. Ruling party’s lawmakers Farrukh Habib and Maleeka Bokhari filed a petition against Gilani seeking his disqualification.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday notified victory of 48 senators-elect, including former premier Yousuf Raza Gilani and Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda who are facing legal challenges concerning their eligibility.
The ECP earlier in the day rejected pleas seeking withholding of victory notifications of Mr Vawda over his dual nationality controversy and of Mr Gilani for allegedly ‘buying’ votes in the recently held Senate polls.
As Mr Vawda finally appeared in person before an ECP bench, headed by its member from Punjab Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi, along with his counsel, the senator-elect was told to appear again and submit his answers to the commission at the next hearing.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Tuesday rejected a PTI petition seeking to withhold the notification of Senator-elect Yusuf Raza Gilani’s victory and making the allegedly bribed parliamentarians party to the matter.
A four-member bench of the Commission asked PTI lawyer to file an amended petition making the lawmakers alleged to have been bribed a party.
Gilani was the consensus candidate of Pakistan Democratic Movement against Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh of PTI and its allied parties in March 3 Senate polls. Senator-elect from Punjab Barrister Ali Zafar of PTI, who appeared before the Commission as counsel for PTI, argued that rigging was carried out during the Senate polls through money and offer of party tickets.
