Luther College student wins the James G. Stemler Scholarship

Mbonisi Mkhombe 23 received a $2,000 James G. Stemler Study Abroad Scholarship to pursue a study abroad program in the United Kingdom during the 2021-22 academic year.
James G. Stemler Study Abroad Scholarships are awarded to Alpha Lambda Delta honor society members who seek to expand their college experience through a study abroad program.
“A big part of how I view myself is as a global learner and for me that entails having a diverse educational experience which I feel is best achieved through a study away program, said Mkhombe. I look forward to engaging in a different kind of learning and by taking classes that are social justice focused I hope to enhance my overall educational experience as I take part in my study abroad program.

Switzerland County High School held its graduation ceremony for the class of 2011 on a hot, sunny Sunday afternoon, but the large crowd inside the gym witnessed a wonderful commencement.
Jacob Chandler, who graduated form Switzerland County High School in 2008 with academic honors, has graduated from Ivy Tech College with an associates degree in Applied Science.
Jennifer South, a 2007 graduate of Switzerland County High School has graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education.
On a bright and sunny Memorial Day, a large crown of Switzerland County residents and visitors took some time to come to the Veteran’s memorial at the courthouse for annual services.

How has Dickinson prepared you for life after graduation?
I think that Dickinson has prepared me in enabling me to improve myself as a person and professional from when I came in as a first-year. I have been able to have so many positive experiences and learning moments, specifically with figuring out the two big questions we tend to all face: who am I and what am I gonna do with my life? I feel that I ve grown as a person as a result of the environment at Dickinson, and with few exceptions, I ve been very fortunate to have had advisors to learn from and assist me on my way, especially when it came to figuring out what I wanted to do.
