Saltes, a University of New Mexico senior offensive lineman and a Valley High alumnus, has been named one of three finalists for the 2020 Wuerffel Trophy, it was announced Tuesday.
Last week, he was voted as the 2020 Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team Captain for his community service contributions. The Wuerffel Trophy is presented to the Football Bowl Subdivision player who best combines exemplary community service with leadership achievement on and off the field.

University of New Mexico offensive lineman Teton Saltes, the Valley High School alumnus known for his big-time contributions on and off the field, has been voted as the 2020 Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team Captain for his community service contributions, it was announced Wednesday morning.
Saltes, a 6-foot-6, 322-pound right tackle, was the only Group of Five football player named to the 22-person team that recognizes those who have truly set themselves apart through their commitment to helping others in need.
