Prospect Park school board OKs three-year contract with superintendent

Prospect Park NJ schools to return to in-person learning this month

PROSPECT PARK  The borough s only public school will reopen for live instruction on Monday as long as there are no reports of COVID-19 this week, the superintendent said. The change means that some students will see their teachers in person for five days per week for the first time since the pandemic closed the school a year ago. Students in kindergarten through third grade will return for full in-person learning, and those in pre-K and grades four to eight will go back to the same hybrid model used in the fall. Under that schedule, hybrid students in each grade are split into groups, with each receiving live instruction for two days per week and every other Friday.

Political stranglehold in Prospect Park: BOE member ends term with parting shot at mayor Philip DeVencentis, NorthJersey.com PROSPECT PARK  An outgoing member of the Board of Education unpacked three years of frustration in the closing moments of his last public meeting by telling viewers on Zoom that his fellow trustees had sold their souls to the mayor. Trustee Frank Caraccio, 55, whose term ended on Thursday, also expressed guilt for leaving the K-8 district in the care of such a dysfunctional and inept school board. Caraccio made similar sentiments in the past. At one point in his term, he filed a batch of ethics complaints against other trustees for allegedly firing certain professionals for no apparent reason before replacing them with allies of Mayor Mohamed Khairullah.
