One person in custody after police respond to theft at Palomar Medical Center Escondido

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) â Police responded to Palomar Medical Center Escondido on Friday after hospital security reported a theft, and an officer heard what they believed to be a gunshot.
The call of a gunshot came in for the 500 block of Allenwood Lane just after 3 p.m., located behind Palomar Medical Center Escondido, according to San Diego Sheriff s Department and Escondido Police Department.
Two carjackings at gunpoint on Wednesday one in Germantown and one in Hales Corners are thought to be related, police said.
Shortly after 12:30 p.m., Germantown Police responded to a call that a black BMW sedan was stolen at gunpoint at Fairway Knoll, a senior living community at N112 W17500 Mequon Road.
The victim told police he was approached while he was in his parked car preparing to leave the facility. A man pointed a black handgun at his head and demanded his wallet and keys, according to a news release from the Germantown Police Department.
Another man approached the vehicle and pulled the victim out of the car and to the ground, police said.
