Dispatch discussions continue in Allen County
LIMA The Allen County Board of Commissioners met with the Allen County Emergency Management Agency and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday to continue discussions about moving forward with a centralized emergency dispatch system.
EMA director Tom Berger and Chief Deputy Todd Mohler both joined the commisioners to reiterate their support for centralized dispatch.
Berger told commissioners that despite the initial financial cost, the prospects of creating a regional dispatch could become a reality in the future if Allen County centralizes its dispatch in the present.
Commissioners have until July 2022 to work out details on funding and who to contract with. More conversations are set to take place next week between the commissioners and area township officials, who are not yet on board with creating a centralized dispatch.
