Chippa United advanced to the Nedbank Cup last 16 with a 4-3 win on penalties against Free State Stars on Sunday afternoon.
Chippa named the big guns from the loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership, as Andile Mbenyane skippered the side whilst Anthony Laffor made his first start.
Allan Freese’s men put a number of bodies behind the ball following the earlier exchanges, but Chippa still carved a look-in with a promising strike from Maloisane Mokhele sailing narrowly wide.
It started to open up albeit slightly closer to the half-hour mark after Danny Venter worked an angle from a decent area to bring goalkeeper Ayanda Mtshali to a save with a snap-shot.

Former AmaZulu FC assistant coach Allan Freese has revealed what led to his departure at the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.
Freese came in as Ayanda Dlamini s assistant at the start of the season while he was also in charge on an interim basis before Benni McCarthy took over the reigns.

TS Galaxy could turn to former Orlando Pirates coach Owen Da Gama to lead the club in the new year.
Galaxy parted ways with coach Dan Malesela after only eight games this season after he only managed to secure one win and three draws during his tenure.
The Mpumalanga-based outfit has since appointed Zipho Dlangalala as interim coach while they search for a new mentor.
Da Gama is currently unattached after Highlands Park sold their status to Galaxy at the end of last season.
Other coaches that Galaxy could consider for the vacant coaching position include Eric Tinkler, Allan Freese and Muhsin Ertugral.
