Media coverage of the ongoing Archaeological Survey of India s (ASI) survey of the Gyanvapi complex has been barred by a Varanasi Court. The order comes after members of the Gyanvapi management committee sought a ban on media coverage and any comments from the survey team. The survey is being conducted to determine whether the 17th-century mosque was constructed over a temple. The court s order comes amid baseless and misleading news being reported online and in the media that could lead to a breach of peace.
The court of District Judge A K Vishvesh passed the order on a plea by the Gyanvapi management committee seeking a ban on the media coverage of the survey which is being conducted to determine whether the 17th-century mosque was constructed over a temple
