REGIONAL- Minnesota data reflects a recent nationwide trend of declining COVID-19 vaccinations, but with 59 percent of those 16 and over in the state having received at least one dose of vaccine as of Sunday, Gov. Tim Walz appears poised to lift more restrictions this week.
During a Tuesday tour of Alice Smith Elementary School in Hopkins to promote funding for summer school programs, Walz indicated that a revision of COVID-19 restrictions is imminent.
“Thursday’s announcement should go a long way, I think, toward moving things forward. I think Minnesotans should start assuming they’re going to have a very normal-looking summer,” Walz said.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 9) - Minnesota Senate Republicans say business owners who were fined for flaunting the state s COVID-19 public health orders should get a free pass.
The GOP proposal, made during state budget negotiations, would wipe away all penalties against businesses. It is unlikely to go anywhere because Democrats control the House, where one DFL lawmaker referred to the plan as a bunch of garbage.

MINNEAPOLIS As time ticks down in the final two weeks of the 2021 session, Gov. Walz once again called on the Minnesota Legislature to approve funding for his enhanced summer learning program.
To help drive home the point Walz visited to Alice Smith Elementary School in Hopkins Tuesday, where he visited with children and spoke to the media about the $150 million package he first proposed in February. It s now time for us to move the summer learning plan, Walz told reporters as he stood outside the entrance to the school with student looking on at the event.
