Pope Francis arrives in Marseille this Friday to close the Mediterranean meetings. A 2-day visit with a moment of contemplation at Notre-Dame de la Garde before a high mass Saturday in a Velodrome stadium transformed for the occasion. But why did the pope choose the city of Marseille for this visit? More than 500 years since a pope had set foot on Marseille soil. The Holy Father allowed himself to be seduced by the "world-city" that "looks towards the Mediterranean"

Archbishop Michel Aupetit has appointed two new vicars general for the Archdiocese of Paris to replace a pair of priests who abruptly resigned the key posts in the previous months.
The archdiocese announced on April 30 that Aupetit has named Michael Gueguen and Emmanuel Tois two priests currently running parishes in the French capital to the important administrative position.
They take up their new offices on September 1.
Gueguen, 62, is currently pastor of Saint-Honoré d Eylau Parish in the swanky 16th arrondissement, home to foreign embassies and renowned museums.
Born in 1959 in Oran (Algeria), his vocation bears the imprint of 20th century French mystic and stigmatist Marthe Robin, founder of the Foyers de Charité spiritual movement.

A vicar general in the Archdiocese of Paris has shocked Catholics in the French capital by abruptly announcing his resignation from the key post at the beginning of Holy Week.
Father Benoist de Sinety, who had been in the post since 2016, stepped down on March 30 and announced that he was taking up a parish assignment in the Diocese of Lille, France s northern-most diocese.
