Orienteering is for all ages and degrees of fitness and skill and provides the suspense and excitement of a treasure hunt.
The object is to locate control points by using a map and compass to navigate the outdoor terrain.
Orienteering began in Scandinavia in the 1800s. By 1919, it was a competitive sport in Sweden. It came to the United States in 1946 as a recreational activity and later became a competitive sport.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â A 21-year-old Grandview woman is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection to a shooting Sunday that left a man dead.
Just after 12 p.m. Sunday, officers were sent to the 13200 block of Winchester Avenue on a reported shooting.
When they arrived, they located a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, identified in court documents as Matthew Hill, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Also on the scene when officers arrived was a woman who told police she was the shooter.
