paul chambers has been on this story since it broke this morning and joins us with a live report. reporter: good afternoon. we have two active scenes going on. the fire scene and the police scene. this is the police scene. we re at the intersection of 14th and peralta. this is closed here because of that active police investigation. someone was shot outside this home. over here the actual fire scene is going on. this is down 14th street. this is where the fire is basically being wrapped up now. here s what we do know. about 9:30 a.m., the fire broke out at 14th and campbell. we re told that it started in a back corner lower level. this is a duplex building. people were allowed to go back inside to see that there are a lot of water damage inside, most of the damage is done to the bottom level where the fire started. it was baffle fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on scene. they were able to put it out within 20 to 30 minutes. about 30 minutes later, a man told us he h

a strange man tried to lure a girl into his van yesterday morning. officials say yesterday s incident is not the only such abduction attempt in the area in recent weeks. the purpose of this phone call is to ask to you remind your children not to speak to strangers in cars while going to or from school. reporter: a stranger-danger alert for students at el dorado middle school. scary. reporter: the police pal says this is the principal says this is the second incident in two weeks. this guy was more persistent. after she said no, he kept pursuing her. that made it a little more scary for us. reporter: a 7th grader said she was walking to school here on glazer avenue when a man pulled up in a beige van and offered her a ride. the man is described as in his 30, bald, possibly of polynesian decent and a mustache and goatee. reporter: jennifer s younger sister attends el dorado and she says she always tries to be aware of her surroundings. if there s a family, a
the sailors involved. among the missing are james bradford, age 41 of chicago, alexis busch of larkspur, jordan fromm of kentfield and alan cahill. confirmed dead, marc kasann of belvedere. the three rescued are nick voss, brian chong of tiburon and elmer morressy. eight groups of flowers for the eight sailors involved. yesterday afternoon the 38 foot sailboat low speed chase ran aground. during an annual race sponsored by the yacht club. three were rescued by the rocks from a helicopter. one sailor was found deceased in the water. now the search continues for the four others. when a tragedy of this magnitude hits, we re missing four sailors and have one confirmed fatality. it s very, very serious and very tragic and hit everybody here very, very hard. not knowing what the end result is even more difficult. we re waiting minute by minute is what we re dealing with. reporter: and here s the latest from the coast guard on the status of the search. right now there are two
