Eating the Past explores food and beverages in history along with our relationship to food today. The show ties in with a video series of the same name that features faculty and staff chefs who cook recipes from USU's historic cookbook collection. We will bring recipes, personal stories, interviews, and fun to the discussion of what we eat. The show will air every Sunday at noon before the Splendid Table.
Nearly 100 undergraduate students from across USU will present their research at the annual Fall Student Research Symposium, hosted on Dec. 9th in the Merrill-Cazier Library from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Utah State University was recently recognized as a national leader in research programs for undergraduates.
Undergrads at USU have many different opportunities to take part in research projects that go along with their majors and interests.
“I got the opportunity to work in Dr. Fernanda Batistel s lab at Utah State University with the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences and her main research focus was on the nutrition of dairy cows, said Gonzalez. In our research, we would focus on feeding fat to dairy cows.”
Research can be anything from an experiment in a lab, to a paper for class. According to Alexa Sand, Associate Vice President for Research at USU, 60 percent of majors require students to take part in some sort of research. Outside of the classroom, Sand said that about 27% of students are doing research.
Utah State University is the recipient of the 2020 Award for Undergraduate Research Accomplishments. The award recognizes USU as a national leader in undergraduate programs for research and creative inquiry.
According to a press release from the university, 60 percent of degrees at Utah State require a research or creative-activity capstone. The press release states that according to a national survey in 2012, this is the highest level of undergraduate research in the nation.
USU associate vice president Alexa Sand said the university is honored to accept the “Council s most prestigious award.”
