Premium Content Subscriber only A man who was arrested on Wednesday afternoon following an alleged string of offences including stealing cars and dangerous driving has faced court. Aaron John Robbie, 34, will remain in custody following his appearance in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday morning. Speaking to media on Thursday, Maroochydore Criminal Investigations Branch officer-in-charge Daren Edwards said the Mountain Creek man was arrested after police allege he threatened another man at knifepoint, demanding the keys to his vehicle at a Gardak Street address, before fleeing the scene on foot about 3.30pm on Wednesday. Senior Sergeant Edwards said Mr Robbie was apprehended a short distance away.

The action starts from 8am Friday at Maroochydore beach with ironman and ironwoman and surf and board races throughout the day. The final events will be the under 14 male and female surf race finals. Sprints and beach relays will take place at Mooloolaba from 2pm Friday. Saturday s beach events at Mooloolaba begin at 7am with the young athletes competing in 2km runs. Flags will start from 4.30pm. Competitors aged from 30 to 75 will also hit the water at Mooloolaba on Saturday with the masters open swim events starting from 8am.
