As soon as news broke last month that Jeremy Lin was signing with the Santa Cruz Warriors, I knew I wanted to do a story on what went into his decision to turn down seven-figure contracts in China to play in the G League.
It wasn’t until that article became one of my most read pieces in my six years at The Chronicle, however, that I realized just how big the interest level still is for Lin. Whether in the NBA, the Chinese Basketball Association or the G League, he attracts a global audience.

The Golden State Warriors are one of the teams who are expected to be active on the market before the 2021 trade deadline. The Warriors may be currently in the playoff race, but with Klay Thompson set to remain on the sideline for the entire 2020-21 NBA season, they would be needing more star power around Stephen Curry and Draymond Green in order to have a realistic chance of reclaiming their throne and reviving their dynasty this year.
