And witnesses scattered. This is a very violent situation. It was a violent incident. Some people were obviously traumatized. Either the victims of the incident or people that had to observe or witness what was going on. Reporter police made a public plea for anyone to come forward. So far enough witnesses have been found to charge hernandez with felony attempted carjacking and hit and run. He was also charged with assault on a police officer, battery on an officer and resisting arrest. But investigators want more. In order to go ahead and amend the charges to include the kidnapping offenses that we know occurred, we have to have the victims come forward to go ahead and explain the incident and the situation as it unfolded. Wearing body cameras when this happened around 2 30 this afternoon. There was a lot of police and helicopter activity and police and people were trying to get a glimpse of the hot pursuit that started on the eastside of town and ended here in west oakland. Oakland Police Chased the Armed Robbery suspect from this intersection at 27th and mlk. The driver crashed into a car and jumped out and ran while carrying this loaded handgun. He tried to carjack a vehicle and then ran off before three officers opened fire on him. Police say he did not fire his weapon at them. The firearm is a 9 millimeter that was stolen. And it was found on him . It was found next to him at the scene. One officer found a trauma kit to help the wounded suspect who died at the hospital. After the suspect was shot they immediately activated the kit. The kit o help with gunshot wounds so the officers did activate this kit prior to medical personnel responding and transporting the suspect to a local hospital. Lolia dra

The problem is, is that when they decide, its a decision they make to stay, it endangers us because its our duty to protect lives and property. So it creates anxiety for us. Reporter these firefighters they are prepared to put it on the line. Keep in mind they have been out here more than two weeks. And, you know, they are pretty exhausted. They are working 12 hours at a time in some cases 24 hours at a time. Then 24 hours off. They are still at it. This fire continues to grow. Its going over some of the major roads and approaching some of the areas that in this area we were told this was a safe zone. The fire doesnt care. Its still moving in. And, you know, for those folks who are still in there, in these homes, they are putting these firefighters at risk to some degree but so far, none of the homes have caught fire. This all started as a peaceful protest, but then things spiraled out of control in the past hour. This is what it look like a short time ago at 980 in oakland. Gridlock. Chp was nowhere to be seen for some time, it wasnt until 20 minutes later we saw officers roll up at 10 20 tonight. Once chp got there, they got creative to clear the log jam. We saw them telling cars to drive the wrong direction to get out. This protest followed a Police Shooting that left a suspect dead. Christin ayers has that part of our story.
