Burlington, IA- The Burlington Community School District has announced that Aldo Leopold Intermediate School and Burlington High School will be closed over the summer months for construction work. According to a news release, the work at Aldo Leopold involves the resetting of a majority of the windows, along with repair work to the building's exterior. The work at BHS involves the continuation of the ongoing renovation project. Baseball and Softball seasons will not be affected, but BHS Summer programs will instead be offered at Edward Stone Middle School. This will not impact the start of the 2024-25 school year, as work will be completed before students return to school. The gymnasiums at Aldo Leopold and BHS, as well as the pool and weightroom, will have limited use by sports teams with approval from Athletic Director Jay Huff.
