I wanted to acknowledge the Department Staff who have been working for over eight weeks in terms of our preparedness and our response in terms of dealing with the coronavirus. Last tuesday i am pleased to announce that mayor breed declared a state of emergency in the city, which was transformative in our ability to better prepare for the response. It allowed us to activate the department to be more focused on the response, coordinate better with other city departments. This is a shared responsibility in terms of our response doing that. We were able to also be eligible for potential federal responses within an emergency response. We were also able to position ourselves to better educate the community and the public
