Alex Kingston has written a Doctor Who novel based on her character River Song.
The 57-year-old actress – who played the companion and eventual wife of The Doctor in the iconic BBC sci-fi series from 2008 to 2015 – has penned The Ruby s Curse , which will see her alter ego join forces with her own literary creation Melody Malone.
Set in New York in 1939, private eye Melody is hired to find a stolen ruby called the Eye of Horus, which could hold the secret to finding Cleopatra s tomb – although everyone who comes into contact with it dies.
In the same year and location, River – who wrote the Melody Malone Mysteries – is forced to find the same jewel, which is a reality-altering weapon.
