Albemarle schools staff recommends sweeter 2022 pay raises

Photo: WINA CHARLOTTSVILLE (WINA) – The Albemarle School Board is considering amping up proposed pay raises for classified staff beyond what had already been planned. Director of planning and budget Maya Kumazawa says these sweeter raises will ensure the county pay scale is more competitive.

Albemarle School Board votes on Stage 4 tonight

Photo: WINA CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – The Albemarle School Board tonight will vote on Superintendent Matt Haas’ recommendation last week to begin Stage 4 of the Return to School COVID plan March 1. The big difference between this and the current Stage 3 is this will bring students at all grade levels to school a few days a week, as opposed to just pre-K through 3rd-grade. In fact, Stage 4 brings pre-K through 3 to face-to-face classes 4 days a week and grades 4-through-12 two days. 56% of students have selected face-to-face classes in Stage 4 which is just over 7600 students. The school board meeting starts at 6:30, with Superintendent Haas’ recommendation expected around 8. Public comment is at 7.
