City talks itself up with future skyline images

Show Fullscreen CGI projection of the City of London skyline in the mid-2020s The City of London Corporation has released new images showing how the skyline could look in the mid-2020s. The majority of the tall buildings in the updated views will be in the so-called eastern cluster and will “fill in the gap” towards Rafael Vinoly’s Walkie Talkie which, despite being much closer to the Tower of London World Heritage Site than the rest of the cluster, was approved because of its “high-quality design”. The City issued the projections with a press release arguing that the images demonstrate investor confidence in the Square Mile despite the pandemic throwing the future of the office into doubt.

City of London: Images show how skyline could look by 2025

New CGI pictures of how the London skyline will look by the mid 2020s show 12 new skyscrapers towering over the City. The latest images of the Square Mile’s skyline have been released depicting familiar buildings such as the Cheesegrater and The Gherkin dwarfed by the new mega structures. A total of 13 huge new buildings are in the pipeline for the City of London as part of the authority s plan for 2036 - two of which have already been completed and a further 10 have been approved and are either being built or due to start work soon. Some of the buildings in the City seem to have been built into odd shapes - this is to make it still possible to view St Paul s Cathedral from Parliament Hill, Alexandra Palace, King Henry s Mound in Richmond and from Greenwich Park.
