MASSENA â School districts typically thank their boards of education for the work they do, but the thanks were returned by the Massena Central School Board of Education to the district for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
âI know weâve said it several times in appreciation of all our staff, top to bottom. Itâs truly remarkable how weâve come through this,â President Patrick Bronchetti told board members during their last meeting.
But theyâve never put those thanks in writing.
âTrustee (Robert) LeBlanc sent me a letter and copied all the board members, suggesting we do it officially. So we put a letter of acknowledgement and recognition attached to the agenda,â Mr. Bronchetti said.
MASSENA â Massena Central School officials have worked with the Department of Health to allow them to graduate all seniors in one night instead of the anticipated two evenings.
Because of COVID-19 restrictions, the Class of 2020 had been split up and graduated in two separate ceremonies at the high school.
âThe reality of it is since I came to Massena Central High School, the one request that I have heard most frequently from both our kids and our parents is that they really wanted all of our seniors to be together at graduation. Iâve heard this in countless meetings with students, Student Council, senior class and just kids in the hallway,â Principal Alan C. Oliver said.
