Welcome to the 2016 book festival. This is our panel this morning on schools and change. I just have a few housekeeping rules. Please remember to silence your cell phones. Books of these and many of the other authors here today will be available outside the State Capitol building. The booksellers are out on mississippi street, and signing tent is directly opposite that. Youll see in the back of the program the full booksigning schedule with authors and the times that theyll be signing today. Really misrepresented what was happening in terms of the regiment . Well, i think i mentioned that the name hell fighter stuck in part because of the band being representative of the regiment. And it was, it not only was a representative of the regiment that came topsy anonymous with the regiment came to be synonymous with the regiment at some point. In fact, a scholarly book, this person writes that James Reese Europe was the leader of the 369th. Not just the band, but of the 369th. This character and he is supposed to be lean the warrens brother and someone mentioned he won this he wanted to kill me now to have improved core and she wears a and i go into a lot of detail about the symbolism of that bill that is the end of any discussion of a combat role of the 369th. And theres a magazine Bill Williamson is reading that says is recognizing the great accomplishments of blacks is to the world of entertainment. That is paraphrasing but if blacks couldnt be lawyers, doctors, teachers, etc
Take on what happened but also a look at the politics at the time that made the troops stay overseas in world war ii. Host lissa warren, you mentioned youre an acquiring editor. How long is the process of getting the book on the shelfs to the time you acquire it . Guest its just like having a baby, it takes about nine months from hand you script through the man you script, the copy editing process and then the cover design. I would have, at point, 20 children if i was having babies instead of publicizing books because ive been doing this for 20 books now. To write it, it usually takes a year or two, sometimes three if its a long book or one that requires a lot of research. They are pretty knee deep in evaluating copy edit suggestions that have been made. That can take several weeks. Occasionally a month or two, but we dont always have that long. We also need to keep books in the season that theyve been slotted, and so we have to keep the schedule, and the authors get some time with the
