capitol hill may be quiet this month during the summer recess but lawmakers hoping for a break from the political battles when they head home, may be out of luck. because activists and interest grups are gearing up for fights on issues like immigration reform, funding obamacare and gun control. joining us is the contributing editor for the american conservator magazine and host of the alan colmes show and author of thank the liberals for saving america. this is an august that i think will be extra reminiscent of what we experienced in 2009, the summer recess may be far from a time of relaxation for members of congress because of all the issues. what do you say, jim? i agree. i think that both parties now have learned since that experience in 2009 when sort of the tea party protestors showed up and really raised the roof on
that was the head of the irs. the agency that s going to be charged with enforcing obamacare saying he d rather not get his own health insurance system from the company charged with the overhaul one day before house republican voted for the 40th time to derail obamacare and pass a bill cushing the irs s role implementing the overhaul. a republican strategist and blogger, alan colmes, we know him and love him, host of the al alan colmes show. we know you and also love you. the head of the irs enforcing this says i prefer to stay on my current plan as i m sure millions of americans would like to but may not get to. you know that poll that said 77% don t want that individual mandate. 82% of the people i have the numbers here don t deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions. 61% like the fact they can stay in thei insurance.

jon: let s get some reaction from tho our to that from our news watch panel. jim pinkerton is a writer for the american conservative magazine and a fox news contributor, alan colmes, host of the alan colmes show and author of tank the liberals for saving america and why you should. a new and dangerous level, jim? well, it what was said in that piece is, of course, what kirsten powers has been saying as well. she s a democrat who worked in the clinton administration, and she said, listen, you know, there might have been media bias back then, but bill clinton certainly got clobbered a lot of the time by the liberal media. chris matthews would routinely attack clinton. and, of course, now her point is, and i agree, that it s changed substantially, and the media are much more in lockstep with president obama than any other democratic president i could think of.
