The Sky’s The Limit For Local Athlete Aidan Semelsberger By CAROL A. CLARK caclark@ladailypost.com Los Alamos High School athlete Aidan Semelsberger has had a highly productive year despite the global pandemic.  He was selected as a 2019-2020 National High School All-American and a regional All-Star representing the West region (Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, and South Dakota.) He was scheduled to represent the West Region All-Stars in St. Louis, Mo., May 29, however he declined to attend. The two-time All-State soccer player also has committed to the University of Denver for soccer, which just happens to be the sixth ranked recruiting class in the entire nation.

Courtesy/LAHS  LAPS News: The Los Alamos School Board met for a regular meeting Tuesday, March 9. President Melanie Colgan opened the meeting with a moment of silence in memory of Las Cruces School Superintendent Karen Trujillo. “She touched many lives as an educator and is going to be sorely missed,” Colgan said.  The board also celebrated several recognitions. Art teachers from around the district were honored as part of Youth Art Month. Britt Williams, Aspen’s art teacher, spoke for the elementary art teachers in saying that they are thankful to work in a district that supports the arts.

Photo by John McHale/ladailypost.com Officials gather Monday for the ribbon cutting ceremony held on the sidewalk in front of the Sullivan Field House on Diamond Drive. A tour utilizing COVID-19 protocols of social distancing and mask wearing followed the ceremony and included the new Press Box and remodeled Track Storage Shed. The new Sullivan Field House includes locker rooms for home and away teams, concessions, ticket booths, a spirit store, public restrooms, a training room and 1,000 square-feet of storage. The new facility supports not only sports teams and the Topper Band but also high school physical education classes. Photo by John McH
