Sonu Sood gets COVID-19 vaccine and launches initiative

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has announced his latest philanthropic initiative while also revealing that he has received the COVID-19 vaccine. “Got my vaccine today and now it’s time to get whole of my country vaccinated. Started the biggest vaccination drive “Sanjeevani” which will bring awareness and get our people vaccinated,” Sood, 47, tweeted on April 7. The ‘Kung Fu Yoga’ actor has actively been involved in social and philanthropic movements to help Indians who have been affected by the pandemic in the past year. When India went into lockdown, he helped stranded migrant workers get back to their home states by organising trains and buses. He also launched a job portal called ‘Pravasi Rojgar’ to help migrant workers find employment.

After the February 7 deluge, the house of 85-year-old Sona Devi had been completely damaged, rendering her along with her daughter homeless. When Singh, who is also a native of Reni village, started rescue and relief work there, he came to know about the plight of Devi. Singh, who lives in Dehradun along with his family, immediately offered his house to Devi.

Sood adopted four daughters of Alam Singh Pundir (45), who worked as an electrician in the Tapovan Hydropower project, lost his life leaving his wife and four daughters behind at Loyaal village of Tehri district. Hukum Singh Bhandari, a resident of the village and former village pradhan said, We have received the assurance from Sonu Sood s team that he will be bearing the expenses related to education and livelihood of the family now. Our blessings and well wishes to the man. The deceased has four daughters Anchal (14), Antara (11), Kajal (8), and Ananya (2). The family members of the deceased thanked the actor.
