To pastor strong, and this brown African American episcopal church, the this fourth generation preacher, it humbles me to be in the presence of that denomination that came into being not as a consequence of a theological schism but as a form of protest, unique among american denominations. To our distinguished members of the clergy, the members of the episcopacy, the congressional delegation these cabinet officials who thought it not robbery to be in gods house to honor the sacrifices of those who yet remain among us and the martyrs of the movement, to ambassador young [applause] and so many of these foot soldiers of the Civil Rights Movement whom god has blessed us to have with us yet and of course, to the preacher of the hour, the reverend al sharpton. Dr. Bernice king, who is the chief executive officer of the king center which was founded by her mother in 1968. She was appointed to this position in january 2012 by the board of trustees. Dr. King is nationally and internal ashley known as one of the most prolific, powerful, motivated and anointed our doors in todays season. She leaves audiences require you to think and process what you have heard and then stand up and do something. The selma to Montgomery Alabama Voting Rights march in 1965 through the attention of the world when activists were attacked by police at the start of the march in selma, alabama on march 7. That day became known as bloody sunday. 18 days later, with armed protection from the u. S. Army and Alabama National guard, the protesters completed the fourday march from selma to montgomery. Next, a commemorative ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the march 25th rally.
