the mid-terms come? again, two quick things. one, we re overthinking the shutdown. republicans control everything. people do not follow this as closely as we do. i think that s a very simple argument for democrats to make. that s one. two, will they remember? i think nia s right, the democratic base will remember. and it s already, you ve already seen lots of results, not just polls but you ve seen the alabama special election, virginia governor s race. 34 state legislative seats in the country going from republican to democratic since 2017. largely the result of a democratic enthusiasm edge. so yeah, i don t know that it changes all that much. this is still going to be a referendum in november on donald trump. but i actually think standing up and fighting, even if it means the government closing to nia s point probably plays well with a democratic base who you can t be too anti-trump for the democratic base. that s what i was thinking. that s sort of what the base, the democratic

checkups, shots, prescriptions, dental, vision coverage, hospital visits, basic health care coverage that all children need. families have to apply to see if they qualify for the program. we knew back in september that the money was running out, but the republican-led congress passed a short-term fix for c.h.i.p. last month. the funding was supposed to last until march, but more than a dozen states are already starting to run out of the cash and not taking new enrollees. now, there is not a lot of controversy about c.h.i.p. everybody thinks it should happen. most americans no matter republican or democrat favor c.h.i.p. it s for kids, vulnerable kids. in fact, it s actually one of the biggest reasons democrat senator doug jones won the alabama special election because of his focus on c.h.i.p. and maybe because of roy moore. all right. it was a huge factor in the race because 150,000 kids are on c.h.i.p. in alabama. the state is at risk of running out of money if the government doesn
alabama special election. i m with margaret and i think the president is palling around with a sitting republican senator who went on television loudly and plainly and bluntly declared him unfit to hold the office of the presidency. i don t think we can say he will never forgive. i want to quote on margaret s piece. you need to be close to the white house. i don t know if it s ever repairable. the wounds are pretty deep. the fact that bannon was dumb enough has a more delusional opinion of himself than trump does. no argument with that. if he calculated that he was the pied pipe of of populism, then he is part of that messaging. i don t think this is about don jr. at all. it is about the russia narrative and reinforcing that. he doesn t know that. he is not bringing that to the
russians does anybody have a lightbulb go on and say, wait a second, the russians really are trying to help us win. that s the thing that is missing from all this to me. that anyone with a brain there were some people in that operation with one would put together at some point. well, yes. they could keep claiming that they were just novices who didn t know what they were doing. right. although one would think that one wouldn t want the government run by such novices. but there were expert people there. there were people with a lot of experience. and they didn t do anything about it because they were all cooperating with the russians and with this information. so you re quite right in terms of what this means to democracy, what it means to the election, what it means to the investigation that mueller is taking on now. i think we have a long way yet to go, because when you look back, it has only been about seven months since mueller was appointed. and that s not a very long t
