The aggrieved students were seen in their numbers wearing black attire to symbolise mourning. by SaharaReporters, New York May 04, 2021 Students of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State have started a procession for a slain alumnus of the institution, Iniubong Umoren, a fresh graduate of the school killed by someone who posed as a prospective employer. The aggrieved students were seen in their numbers wearing black attire to symbolise mourning. Umoren, a 26-year-old graduate of the university, who was also an orphan, had dropped a tweet on her handle last Tuesday seeking a job.  Her tweet attracted many replies. She wrote, “#AkwaIbomTwitter please I m really in need of a job, something to do to keep mind and soul together while contributing dutifully to the organisation. My location is Uyo, I m creative, really good at thinking critically and most importantly a fast learner. CV available on request.”

According to ICIR Nigeria, the inmates were arrested by the Ada District Police Command in the Greater Accra Region and were suspected to be part of over 1,800 inmates that escaped from the Imo State Correctional earlier this month.   The Police said the fleeing inmates were monitored following credible intelligence that they were about to cross the Volta River into Ada Foh on Sunday, April 18. They were eventually tracked to an area known as Clinic Junction Lorry Station from where they were arrested in Sprinter bus with registration number, ER 1657-14.

“The image with camouflage uniform, wearing the rank of an Assistant Commissioner of Police, is one of Kingsley Udoyem , who was arrested and paraded by Akwa-Ibom Police Command on 2nd January, 2019 for the offence of impersonating a police officer. “Therefore, the image in circulation is not in any way connected to a Deputy Commissioner of Police in Kaduna as portrayed in the report. “The command is using this opportunity to advise members of the public to disregard and discontinue the circulation of the unfounded image as there is no iota of truth in it,” he said.
