The Taliban's top leadership assured India during a bilateral meeting in Kabul last week that it would not allow terrorism against third countries from its soil and that it would act against terrorists from Pakistan-based groups based on specific intelligence, Indian media organisation the Hindustan Times reported.
Taliban insurgent fighters are camped just 50 kilometres (30 miles) away from Kabul and this development has prompted many nations, including US and India, to airlift their nationals out of Afghanistan’s capital city.
Asked about the safety of Sikhs and Hindus living in Afghanistan specifically about the incident when a gurdwara in Paktia province had brought down the Sikh religious flag, the Taliban claimed that the flag was brought down by the Sikh community themselves.
