BJP president J P Nadda on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav saying those who never did any good for the farmers are moving around with a handful of grains making pledges. His apparent target was Yadav's 'ann sankalp' (food commitment), the Samajwadi Party's resolve for the welfare of the farmers, a crucial vote bank in the state.
Akhilesh Yadav today defended his comment that China is the real enemy while Pakistan is only the "political enemy" targeted by the BJP for votes and referenced General Bipin Rawat, the Chief of Defence Staff, who died in a helicopter crash on Dec 8.
Pramod Gupta, former MLA and brother-in-law of former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday, accused Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav of hating the Samajwadis and said that he cornered everyone one by one.
Addressing a Jan Vishwas Yatra in Uttar Pradesh`s BastiĀ ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, the BJP chief said, "Akhilesh (Yadav) Ji, you had withdrawn cases against 15 terrorists, but the court didn't allow it. Four of them were sentenced to death and others were given life imprisonment. Akhilesh Ji, this is your real face."
