are undermining human rights and human dignity. many of the countries here today are coping with the challenges of uncontrolled migration. each of you has the absolute right to protect your borders, and so of course does our country. today we must resolve to work together to end human smuggling and human trafficking and put these criminal networks out of business for good. to our kcountry, i can tell you sincerely we are working close with our friends in the region, including mexico, canada, guatemala, honduras, el salvador and panama to uphold the integrity of borders and ensure safety and prosperity for our people. i would like to thank president
you had an impeachment process ongoing because of the saturday night massacre and the fact the president tried to shut down the investigation of watergate. you had a toxic brew for richard nixon. if you hadn t had nixon overreach in 73 and you hadn t had the tapes available, i see nixon finishing his term. it s very hard to remove a president. the evidence and the experience of the 1990s if the american people aren t behind the process and don t believe it s necessary, impeachment further divides the kcountry. those are the lessons for the current period. a great conversation. there s still more ahead in the newsroom. first here s this week s turning point. what i love about body building is the fact that i m able to work on myself every
trauma of an impeachment is putting the kcountry through failed impeachment. are fellow house democrats on board? he voted to advance impeachment and opposed pelosi s bid for speaker. good to see you, sir. good to be back. speaker pelosi seemed to take impeachment off the table. is that what you heard? if not, what did you hear? i m not going to speak for the speaker. i ll tell you what my position is congress does two things. we vote on things and before we do that, we should be debating them. i do think that there s ample evidence out there that we should be debating impeachment. that s why voted with what would that look like? that means holding hearings. asking questions. what s going on with these
like trump poses. and crucially, many of its benefits to the political health of the kcountry, to the stabiliy of the constitution, irrespective of its ultimate result, impeachment is a process, not an outcome, a rule-bound procedure for investigating a president, considering evidence, formulating charges, and deciding whether to continue on to trial. but there are still so many unanswered questions about this. why not wait until we know more and the public is on board here? well, the process itself gives us a lot of protections. and it is a way of actually bringing the public on board and figuring out whether or not to move ahead. what you want is congress to be looking at the whole picture. not with a bunch of independent inquiries launched by different committees into different allegations. you want congress to tackle the key question is the president fit for the office that he holds or has he committed acts that disqualify him? until congress does that, launches those hearings, a
that s okay. we re doing tremendous service. i appreciate it. i want to follow up. maybe the military has an angle here or they have no angle. i know the angles. i know every angle. they have no angle. the military under past lead leadership was taken advantage of by other countries. allies and not allies. our kcountry has to be respecte. we re not respected when we do that. when horrible things are happening on trade, where we have barriers put up and put on and we open our country up. we just open it up.
