KARACHI: Karachi police on Sunday arrested two men for running a coronavirus vaccination racket in the port city.
Karachi Zone South police chief DIG Javed Akbar Riaz said the two men, who were arrested from the city s Defence Phase-2, in their statement, claimed to have support from government institutions. The suspects sold vaccines from Rs15,000-17,000 and would also administer it to people at their homes, the police official said, adding they had recovered vaccines and vaccination cards from the suspects.
The police official said the arrested suspects did not have the required approval from relevant authorities for inoculations or vaccine distribution. The suspects are being interrogated further, he said.

Food delivery boy wounded as security guard opens fire

A food delivery boy was wounded in a firing incident in Defence Housing Authorityâs Khayaban-e-Badar on Saturday.
According to the Darakshan police, the incident took place outside the apartment of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader and member of the Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan. The boy was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical treatment where the police recorded his statement.
The victim, Nadeem Ata, told police that he had arrived to deliver food at Hassanâs house where his security guard opened fire on him.
âWhen I reached the given location, I called the number provided to me many times but I did not get any response. Then I rang the doorbell and a man came out and asked me to hand over the parcel to him,â the injured food delivery boy claimed. âThe guard opened fire on me when I tried to ring the doorbell again.â
