Chain snatchers held within three hours of committing offence | Vadodara News

Accusd duo in police custody Vadodara: Crime branch of the city police detected a chain snatching offence in around three hours after it took place on Saturday afternoon in posh Alkapuri. The chain was also recovered from the accused. According to the police, the incident took place at around 2.45pm when the victim Laxmi Tiwari was waiting for a city bus near a petrol pump on the R C Dutt Road in Alkapuri. The accused were riding a black motorcycle who had covered their faces and were wearing turbans. The police reached the spot and obtained CCTV footage from the petrol pump. The crime branch of the city police also began gathering information apart from the Gotri police.

Pick-up van mows down baby boy | Vadodara News

Vadodara: A 16-month-old baby boy was crushed under the wheels of a four-wheeler on Ajwa Road on Sunday. Angry locals damaged the pick-up van after the driver fled the spot. The police said that it has started searching for the accused on basis of the van’s license number. According to the police, the incident occurred when toddler Hammad Hasim was playing near his house in Ektnagar. A pick-up van passing by ran over the boy while locals alleged that the driver didn’t even apply brakes. The deceased suffered severe injuries on his head and died during treatment. The accused abandoned the poultry van and fled from the spot. Bapod police have registered an offence against the unidentified person. TNN

Man threatens acid attack on wife | Vadodara News

Vadodara: A man living on Ajwa Road was booked for threatening his wife with an acid attack on Sunday. The accused Arif Solanki went to his wife Ragini’s house on Sunday morning. Since Ragini was not in the house, her mother Anjana asked Solanki to leave and meet Ragini in the court. As per information received, the couple is going through a legal dispute over marital discord. Solanki got furious with Anjana and pushed her down. He threatened of acid attack if the case is not withdrawn. Anjana told police that Solanki also threatened to kill her, her other daughter and son-in-law. Anjana called the police control room as Solanki was not leaving.

Gang of mobile phone snatchers caught on NH-8 | Vadodara News

Vadodara: Acting on a tip-off, the Harni police caught four persons including a minor who were involved in a series of mobile phone snatching. The cops kept a watch near Golden Chowkdi on the national highway-48 and intercepted the four who were travelling on two bikes. “On questioning, they admitted to have snatched phones of several persons,” police said. Seven mobile phones worth Rs 40,000 were recovered from them. The accused have been identified as Sunil Rathod and Rajesh Rathwa, both residents of Ajwa Road, Roshan Lohana of Khodiyarnagar and a minor boy. The gang used to target citizens at isolated spots, snatch their mobile phones and fled on their bikes.
