Deputy National Security Advisor (NSA) Vikram Misri will represent India at a peace meeting on Ukraine in Davos, emphasizing a holistic approach and the inclusion of all stakeholders in the talks. India advocates for a durable peace through dialogue and diplomacy, highlighting its longstanding position. This marks the fourth edition of peace talks under the Copenhagen format, with Misri having attended the previous year s discussions in Malta. The Ukraine conflict has been part of recent discussions between India and major powers, including the US and Russia.
In August last year, NSA Ajit K Doval represented India at the meet of NSAs of around 30 countries to hammer out a peace formula on Ukraine under the Saudi leadership. India suggested at the meeting that a solution acceptable to all stakeholders should be found, indicating that Russia s views should also be taken on board for any peace deal.
Countries like Israel said openly that they will hunt people down. We have no such policy. We have always been following the legal process of getting them (people wanted by India) through extradition.
The tensions between China and the US, as well as the current geopolitical situation, have contributed to the Sino-Russian partnership. However, recent cracks have appeared in the relationship, with a border incident causing the Chinese embassy in Russia to publicly criticize Russia s treatment of Chinese citizens. Despite this, China still attended a meeting on the Ukraine peace deal in Saudi Arabia, which Russia did not attend, and even praised the meeting. India, on the other hand, emphasized the importance of considering Russian views in any peace deal.
Doval and Wang have been in communication over the unresolved issues along the LAC since their meeting last month in South Africa on the sidelines of the Brics Summit, ET has reliably learnt.
