On March 7, Nike debuts a new film, titled âWe Play Real,â narrated by Dominique Fishback, celebrating Black women and their resilience and fortitude to lead the world forward.
Key athletes in the film include (in order of appearance): Aâja Wilson, Jewell Loyd, Serena Williams, Crystal Dunn, HoneyBeez, Sydney Leroux, Naomi Osaka, Caster Semenya, Natasha Cloud, Diamond DeShields, Shelly Bell (Black Girl Ventures), Seimone Augustus, English Gardner, Simone Manuel, Ibtihaj Muhammad, Sheryl Swoopes, and ShaâCarri Richardson.
NBA athletes will use their Instagram handles to uplift and support Black women who are having outsized impact across sport, society and culture. These women will post their success stories â how their dream came to be, who inspired them, how they made it a reality, and ultimately ask the viewers to help realize their vision for the future.
Nike is inspiring and making it possible for consumers to assist in the celebration in a new film “We Play Real.” The social campaign elevates Black women’s voices and includes a pitch campaign with community partner Black Girl Ventures.
Nike will continue to deliver inspiring, empowering, and motivating stories, content, and experiences that demonstrate how the power of sport can help move the world forward throughout 2021.

USA Women Draw Japan, France, Nigeria for Olympic Preliminary Round Play

FIBA conducted the draw for the Tokyo Olympics women’s basketball competition virtually Tuesday from its headquarters in Mies, Switzerland, and the U.S. Olympic Women’s Basketball Team has been drawn into Group A alongside host Japan, France and Nigeria for the July 26-Aug. 2 preliminary round.
Rounding out the 12-team field are Canada, Serbia, South Korea and Spain in Group A; and Group C features Australia, Belgium, China and Puerto Rico.
The XXXII Olympic Games women’s basketball competition will be held July 26-Aug. 8 at the Saitama Super Arena, Saitama, Japan.
Nineteen Athletes Set to Return to Court for Feb. 4-7 USA Basketball Women’s National Team Minicamp

Kahleah Copper (Chicago Sky), who started all 22 games for the Sky in 2020 and averaged a team second-best 14.8 points and third-best 5.5 rebounds per game, has accepted an invitation to participate in the training camp in hopes of being named to the USA National Team pool in the future.
