Air India Express accident: Pilot error caused mishap

The Boeing aircraft suffered a minor damage on its right wing after it hit an electric pole while taxiing on the runway.
A team of officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation visited the Vijayawada Airport at Gannavaram on Tuesday and conducted a preliminary investigation into the accident involving an Air India Express Boeing aircraft on February 20.

According to sources, a Canadian woman pilot commanded the flight when the accident occurred.
The aircraft landed from Doha, en route Tiruchirappalli, but all 64 passengers aboard were safe.
The incident happened at around 5pm on Saturday when while landing on the runway, the wing of the aircraft colluded with the high beam lamp post which is placed adjacent to the runway near parking.
VIJAYAWADA: An Air India Express flight from Doha carrying around 64 passengers lost control and hit a pole while landing at Vijayawada International Airport on Saturday. No passengers were injured in the incident.
