TIRUPATI: Kurnool police, in two separate incidents, seized over 1 kg of gold and more than Rs 3 crore cash which were being carried without proper documents or bills during vehicle checks at Panchalingala check-post over the last two days.
District SP Kaginelli Fakeerappa said a 27-year-old auto driver from Bengaluru, identified as BA Chetan Kumar, became friends with one Arun, a resident of Chennai, a few days ago and managed to become his confidant.
On March 28, Arun sent Chetan to Raigarh in Chattisgarh. During his 10-day stay in Raigarh, several persons met the auto driver and gave him the cash. On April 8, he reached Hyderabad carrying over Rs 3 crore in cash when he was intercepted by SEB sleuths at Panchalingala check-post.

This, in effect, means that YSRCP will control all the civic bodies in the state. The Janasena-BJP combine, too, came a cropper.

Historically, the ruling party of the state has an edge in the local body elections. This has already been reflected in the recent panchayat elections.
“If the election is fought with the capital issue on forefront, a negative result will put us on the backfoot in future as the ruling party will bring in a narrative that people in Vijayawada and Guntur voted in favour of three capitals,” said a TDP contestant who did not wish to be named.
