MACC officers among 12 held over links with fugitive adib rawi yahya/theSun PUTRAJAYA: Two senior officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) were among 12 people arrested by Johor police for allegedly colluding with the Nicky Gang, an organised crime network involved in online scams and fraudulent investment schemes. MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Azam Baki (pix) said yesterday that the commission had given its full cooperation to police by handing over the two officers for investigations. “I view this very seriously and will not compromise on the matter. If there are other MACC officers involved, we will hand them over to the police,” he said.

JOHOR BARU: Johor police have arrested another 12 enforcement officers from the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the Nicky Gang case. State police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the arrests were part of phase two of Ops Pelican 3.0 carried out from April 21 and Tuesday (April 27). A team from the state commercial crime arrested the 12 officers of senior rank, including two from the MACC, for alleged involvement with the Nicky gang. The others are two police officers from Bukit Aman, four from Selangor police headquarters, one from Melaka headquarters, two from Kuala Lumpur headquarters and one from Negri Sembilan Pulapol Air Hitam, he told a press conference at the state police headquarters on Tuesday (April 27).

JOHOR BARU: Johor police have discovered that the names of the 12 enforcement officers arrested for alleged involvement with the “Nicky Gang” have been leaked via WhatsApp. State police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said they were tracing the individual involved in sharing and forwarding the list via the messaging app. “This irresponsible action is an offence under Section 203A(1) of the Penal Code for disclosing sensitive information, which carries a fine of not more than RM1mil, or imprisonment not more than a year, or both upon conviction, ” he said in a statement Tuesday (April 27). He added that members of the public were urged not to spread the information to avoid legal action being taken against them.
