The Kanto Lodge, the Air Force Inn at Yokota, will close its temporary lodging facility in building 4304 on the east side of the base on Feb. 15, according to a recent announcement by the 374th Force Support Squadron.
Nine more Air Force inns are shuttering and others may follow suit as the service struggles to sustain its network of dozens of lodges without taxpayer funding. All the inns in the latest closure round are in the United States.
The service is reviewing each installation’s lodging operation based on “current inventory conditions, historical occupancy rates and projected future needs,” according to a statement.
