Chennai: Ahead of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections in 2021, AIADMK gives Rs 12,110 crore loan relief to farmers. Earlier, DMK supremo MK Stalin promised in the poll-bound state to waive off all farm loans if voted to power. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami waved off Rs 12,110 crore loans availed by over 16 lakh farmers from cooperative banks.
According to the
Times of India report, Tamil Nadu CM Palaniswami made an announcement on crop loans availed by farmers and said, “I am a farmer who loves farmers. It is my first duty to address their sufferings. These farmers can continue cultivation in the coming years without any hassle.”
He had been ailing for some time, say sources
Former Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister and AIADMK leader P.V. Damodaran, 76, died at a private hospital in Coimbatore on Tuesday afternoon.
According to sources, Damodaran had been ailing for some time.
2003 to 2006
He was elected from the Pongalur Assembly constituency in 2001 and served as a Minister from 2003 to 2006 in the Jayalalithaa Cabinet. In the 2006 election, he lost the seat to DMK’s Mani by fewer than 50 votes.
AIADMK sources said Damodaran was a founding member of the party and was among those who had left the DMK when actor-politician M.G. Ramachandran founded the party after being expelled from the DMK.

Chennai: The ruling AIADMK s General Council on Saturday confirmed the nomination of Edppadi Palaniswami as party s Chief Ministerial candidate and O Panneerselvam as the Deputy CM candidate for the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
The Council also authorised Palaniswami and Panneerselvam to take decisions on the alliance, seat-sharing pact and candidate selection process.
